I really have loved living in Colorado, but there is one thing I have missed in regards to Kansas summers. Hot weather. Not just warm, summer days. Nope, I'm talking about those 100+ degree days where you step outside and get blasted with hot air. Then you go completely outside and it's just plain HOT!
And people who live in Colorado don't really understand what hot really is. Last June, Colorado Springs had a heat wave for a few days/weeks. They even broke the high record of 91 degrees set in 2006! It hit a whopping 92 degrees! It was BIG news here! Seriously.
I remember being at JCPenny and visiting with the clerk about the hot temps. Her remark when she learned that I just moved here was, "It's normally not this hot! (90 degrees)"
My response, "Compared to what I'm used to, that's not hot."
So.....when I heard of 100-110 degree days hitting western Kansas, I was looking forward to going home in June! And yes, I soaked in every moment of those hot Kansas days!
On Sunday afternoon, I clipped up my hair, put on my tanning clothes, grabbed my sunglasses, ipod and book and sat in my favorite non-windy, sunny spot. For hours. Soaking up every bit of the 100 degrees that I could. And yes, it was just grand! ;)
